Livescope Has Ruined Fishing! Or Has It?

Forward Facing Sonar has changed Fishing FOREVER!

Fishing truly never will be the same, that much is true. As the fishing world continues to evolve, new technologies down imaging, side imaging, spot lock trolling motors and even power poles have sparked debates among anglers. Arguments have been made that new tech "takes the skill out of fishing". However, nothing has stirred up more controversy than the introduction of forward facing sonar. Does being able to see the fish take the fun or the skill out of fishing completely? I say NO WAY.

Enhancing the Fishing Experience

Livescope has revolutionized the way anglers approach fishing by providing real-time imaging of what lies beneath the water's surface. This technology allows fishermen to locate fish more efficiently. It also gives you a real time view of underwater structure and you can even see how fish relate to cover in the lake. Forward facing sonar definitely made finding fish much quicker, but it does not put fish in the boat for you. In fact, you can argue that all of the added off-shore fishing pressure has actually made those fish harder to catch. It sure is cool to be able to see fish in real time react to your bait though. 

Improving Angler Skills

Contrary to popular belief, Livescope has not diminished the skills of experienced anglers. Instead, it has provided them with an additional tool to further hone their craft.m The best fisherman have been able to capitalize on the subtle nuances of the fish's behavior. We are now able to key in on fish activity that we never knew existed until FFS existed. Anglers that were already very good have become better. 

Adapting to Technological Advancements

Just like any other industry, fishing has evolved with technological advancements. Embracing tools like Livescope allows anglers to stay competitive and adapt to the changing landscape of the sport. Rather than resisting change, incorporating new technologies can lead to a more fulfilling fishing experience. Other innovations such as power poles, side imaging and spot lock were "game changers" when they arrived as well. The hype wears down eventually as the new tech becomes more wide spread and the majority of anglers have access to it. The same can and will be said about livescope. 

Preserving the Essence of Fishing

While Livescope offers undeniable benefits, it is essential to remember that fishing is not solely about the catch. The connection to nature, the thrill of the chase, and the camaraderie among fellow anglers are integral parts of the fishing experience that technology cannot replace. 

Remember, you don't have to use it if you don't like it too! I fished around 45 tournaments this past year and livescope was only a crucial tool in maybe 10 of the events I fished. It is not the end all, be all to fishing in the future. Bass still live up shallow and love to eat topwater, senkos, spinnerbaits and of course, Primal Jigs under docks.
