Bait Colors DON'T Matter! Or do they?

Choosing a bait color can seem like an impossibly daunting task at times. I mean, most companies make about 30 different colors of a single soft plastic lure. 

Is that really necessary? In my opinion, not really. Now does this mean you can just chuck around a bright orange spinnerbait all day and get bit left and right? Absolutely not. 

What it does mean is there really are only a small handful of natural colors that are needed to fool like 99% of the bass. 

When it comes to jigs, soft plastics and other bottom style baits, I only throw 6 different colors. You can take a look at our line of Primal Jigs and get a good idea of the colors that I think work. Green Pumpkin, Magic Craw, Bama Craw, Black and Brown, PB&J and Black and Blue. 

That's it, that is the list. Will they eat other colors? Of course. But you will not see me loading my tackle box to the brim with a million different options. As long as you are throwing a color that is natural for the water clarity/conditions, you will have the same, if not better chance of catching bass than someone throwing every color under the sun. I say better because simplifying color choices gives you less variables to spin out on. Keep true to what you know works, and have confidence that if you are in the right areas at the right time, you are going to get bit. 

For moving baits it is the same formula, but slightly different colors. Bluegill, Shad/white of some kind, and black and blue. Some variation of those 3 colors will cover just about any situation on the water.
